About 80% of the States population are fish eaters. The annual per capita fish consumption during 2002-03 is 8.14 Kg. During 2002-03, the total fish production of the State was 2,89,210 M.T. The import and export of fish during 2002-03 is 35,706 M.T. and 81,569 M.T. respectively. The overall increase in fish production during 2002-03 was in the order of 7257 M.T.
